It's Les Horvath day!

22 Days until kickoff!

OK, now I really don't want to do this, but I've gotta. While scanning for pics of Horvath, I came across this biography at www.ohiostatebuckeyes.com. This is how the piece begins;

While on vacation in Hawaii in 1974, Les Horvath was walking along the beaches of Waikiki and came across Ruby Aylor, whom he just had to meet. He decided to walk over to her and introduce himself. He said his name was Les and asked if he could stroll along the beach with her. She politely declined.

Horvath didn't give up easily. He tracked her down later that day and finally charmed her into going out with him. During their conversation, Horvath mentioned he had played football at Ohio State and won the Heisman Trophy in 1944. She had no clue what he was talking about. She knew nothing about football, let alone what the Heisman Trophy was. As the conversation went on, Horvath and his buddies were having no luck convincing her he was a pretty popular guy. Though Ruby didn't believe him, she still thought he was quite charming and they started dating.

Horvath, who lived in California at the time, flew to Hawaii almost every week for his Saturday night date with Ruby. After dating for about five months, the couple married in February 1975. But it was not until she accompanied him to New York City later that year that she was finally convinced about who he really was.

Now, re-read that and pretend that you hear the story being read to you by Stone Phillips.

Sounds a whole lot creepier, doesn't it?

Sorry Les. Enjoy your day!
